An edgy and ornate gemstone talisman for the wild soul. This piece has been in my head for a while.
I wanted to make a gemstone pendant that felt ornate, strong and a little dangerous, with just as much detail on the back as on the front. I’ve always loved jewellery that gives you something else when you turn it around, so I carved a serpent wrapping itself around a dagger on the reverse, while the stone is held by the ornate sculpted claws on the front.
I also wanted it to feel connected to the rest of the collection. The dagger detail echoes my Daggers Ring, which has become one of the most popular rings in the collection, so this pendant feels like a natural extension of that design.
The pendant is available with Black Onyx or Tiger’s Eye, and even though the design is the same, the two stones give it a completely different feeling. Black Onyx has long been associated with protection, grounding and strength. I love how deep and clean the black is against the silver, giving the whole piece a much darker feel. In contrast, Tiger’s Eye has a completely different energy. It is traditionally linked with courage, confidence and protection, and the natural golden bands running through the stone give it so much movement when it catches the light.
That is one of the things I love most about working with gemstones; the stone can completely change the character of the same design.
